Dongbo Wang receives 2009 MSA Research Grant Award

[picture of Dongbo Wang]Geosciences Ph.D. student, Dongbo Wang, was recently notified that he will receive the 2009 MSA Research Grant in Mineralogy and Petrology for his research proposal entitled "Investigating a new pathway to carbonate mineralization and implications for Mg:Ca paleoenvironmental signatures". This competitive international prize of $5,000. USD is awarded annually to two students in the mineralogical sciences. Dongbo continues the Virginia Tech tradition of successful competition for this award after Saumyaditya Bose and Andrew Madden received this award in 2005 and 2003, respectively. Dongbo studies with Professor Dove in the Biogeochemistry of Earth Processes Group.
